Bedz for Kidz

Sponsor a Child’s Bed

Voices for Kids’ Bedz for Kidz program gives foster children a chance to be with extended family, or to live on their own at age 18—just by supplying a bed, sheets and a pillow! A foster child is any child who is looked after by a person other than the parents, while under the supervision of the Dependency Court.

Many relatives and qualified citizens are willing to care for a child who has been removed from his or her home, but they may not be able to afford a separate bed and bedding necessary to be approved as a placement by child welfare. In addition, at age eighteen, foster children are considered adults by the State and are expected to be self-sufficient and to live on their own. Eighteen-year-old foster children often do not have the resources to purchase a bed and bedding.

Guardian ad Litem volunteers can request a bed and bedding from VFK’s Bedz for Kidz Program on behalf of the children they represent.

VFK’s Bedz for Kidz program provides a new bed and bedding, including delivery and set-up, if funding is available. Up to 300 new beds and bedding have been provided annually in emergency situations throughout the five counties of Southwest Florida.

Bedz for Kidz is a unique program in Southwest Florida. Individual contributions, and corporate and organization sponsorships help our community’s most vulnerable children every day!
