BB&T-Oswald Trippe and Company wins Safeco Insurance Make More Happen Award

FORT MYERS, Fla. (distribution date) – BB&T-Oswald Trippe and Company has received a Safeco Insurance Make More Happen Award for volunteer service to benefit Voices for Kids of Southwest Florida. The award includes a $2,000 grant for Voices for Kids of Southwest Florida on behalf of the agency.
“Safeco’s Make More Happen Awards celebrate volunteerism and our independent agent partners who help make things better for others through their time, resources and dedication,” said Safeco President Matt Nickerson. “Safeco Insurance has a rich tradition of civic engagement, and our Make More Happen Awards are just one more way we help build stronger communities by supporting the efforts and causes that are important to our agents.”
BB&T-Oswald Trippe and Company was selected for the award based on demonstrating how volunteers made more happen for Voices for Kids of Southwest Florida, a nonprofit agency supporting Florida’s 20th Judicial Circuit Guardian ad Litem Program-Lee, Collier, Charlotte, Hendry and Glades counties. The Guardian ad Litem Program supports volunteers who advocate and become the “voice” for abused, neglected and abandoned children in court, the child welfare system and the community.
In May, BB&T-OTC team members coordinated painting, reorganized and decorated the toddler and teen waiting rooms of Voices for Kids of Southwest Florida Guardian ad Litem Program at the Lee County Courthouse.
“BB&T-OTC’s hard work and support continues to bring great rewards,” said Darlene Ann Grossman, Voices for Kids of Southwest Florida executive director. “They are a dedicated community partner making a positive impact in Southwest Florida.”
BB&T associates have donated more than 200,000 hours in volunteer service and affected the lives of more than 6 million people as part of the BB&T Lighthouse Project since its inception in 2009. Associates overwhelmingly voted to bring back the initiative this year. For more information about the Lighthouse Project, visit
