Guardian ad Litem Child Advocates

Voices for Kids of Southwest Florida (VFK) works to give 100% of the neglected, abused and abandoned children in Lee, Collier, Charlotte, Hendry and Glades county a Guardian ad Litem volunteer. Guardian ad Litem volunteers are everyday citizens, appointed by juvenile court through the Guardian ad Litem Program, to advocate for the safety and wellbeing of children. Volunteers, supported by staff, stand up and speak up for children and change their lives. Guardians ad Litem focus only on the child’s best interests, speaking up for them in court, the child welfare system and the community.

Given the potentially life-changing and sensitive issues surrounding these children’s lives, each Guardian ad Litem volunteer must be carefully recruited, screened, trained and retained—all unfunded by the Statewide Guardian ad Litem Program, which provides legal and technical support only.

Voices for Kids funds to recruit, train, support and retain our region’s volunteer Guardian ad Litem child advocates—both a necessary and critical component to the Program’s success.
Giving a child a Guardian ad Litem volunteers, gives him a voice in his well-being and future and a chance at having a permanent family.

Your support is needed to fund Guardian ad Litem child advocates and in identifying potential volunteers to ensure success for our community’s most vulnerable children.
